about

All 27 tracks available on purchase.

The first five tracks were recorded live at Mayfields, Melbourne, 26 July 2002 (onto minidisk through the mixing desk).

1. Angels (live) - Live version of the track from the self-titled Undecisive God CDR (sham015, 2001) (previously unreleased).

2. Link (live) - Previously unreleased.

3. Pray (live) - Previously unreleased.

4. Guitar Death Chant (live) - Live version of the track from the self-titled Undecisive God CDR (sham015, 2001) (previously unreleased).

5. The Last Years (live) - This track also ended up on the limited edition split CD with Brisbane's AGIT8 (MDB Records, 2003).

6. Outside the Walls - This studio track, recorded in August 2002, also ended up on the limited edition split CD with AGIT8

7. Anime Still Sux (UG Remix) - This was a remix fo Adelaide project The Spinning Room's track fo the same name. It was released on a CD of Spinning Room remixes (Chastity Records, 2004).

8. Lot's Wife - This and the following two tracks are from the first jam session I had with Scott Sinclair. This and subsequent jams (mostly with each of us on guitar) would accumulate material that went towards our "With Doors Open" CDR (Half Theory/Shame File Music sham029, 2005) (previously unreleased).

9. Rajas - This and the following track, along with "Tamas" (from "With Doors Open"), were named after the three gunas (tendencies) of Hindu philosophy. Rajas roughly equates to presevervation (Tamas is destruction) (previously unreleased).

10. Sattva - The third, and highest, guna, equating to creation (previously unreleased).

11. The Modern Discourse - The title track of the business card CDR collaborative release with James Smith (AKA - W.I.T.) (sham021, 2003). Here I remixed sounds provided by James (October-November 2002).

12. Within, Wonder - Here James Smith remixes my sounds (from an earlier piece "Guitar in E" - see Archive 4) for the "Modern Discourse" release. Sounds like there is a Bjork sample in there, too.

13. Instrumental - An off-the-cuff rock riff (recorded in November 2002) that was submitted to a remix/collaboration project which never eventuated (previously unreleased).

14. Green Noise - Layers of guitar noise and a distorted vocal track from my four year-old daughter that I added (recorded June 2003, previously unreleased).

15. The Long Night - I recorded this track in July 2003 especially for the compilation CD "Hidden Landscape: Lake Vostok" (Dreamland Recordings, 2004). The theme of the CD was a frozen underground Antarctic lake. Looping bass rumble from an earlier track (the title track from "(_the_war_against_sleep_)" (Black Orchid, 2000, see "Archive 4")) with some subtle guitar overlaid, I attempted to create an atmosphere of a ship stuck in pack ice through the long Antarctic winter.

16. Post Tamasic Splice Disorder - This and the following two tracks were recorded in May 2003, where Scott Sinclair and I jammed partly in preparation for a live performance in Melbourne. This track is an edited version of an improvisation around a track "Tamas" from "With Doors Open" (sham029, 2005) (previously unreleased).

17. Howl Before Dawn - This and the following track appeared on the "Tamas" CD/digital EP (sham030, 2005).

18. China

19. Instrument Death Offering - This is an edited version of a live performance with Scott Sinclair at The Tote in Melbourne. My guitar suffered various technical problems during our set, and this is the best I could salvage from it (previously unreleased).

20. Based on a Dream - This is taken from a jam Scott and I had in October 2003 (previously unreleased).

21. Lot's Hiss - Here I took my track with Scott Sinclair "Lot's Hiss" (see above) and in August 2003 ran it through some filters on extreme settings. This was released on the "Melbourne Water Volume 1" compilation CD (W-Minc, 2004).

22. Dots - Recorded July 2003, this track appeared on the "Woodlot Surer" compilation CD (From The Same Mother, 2004), which solicited 5 x 1 minute tracks from each artist.

23. Multi - Also from July 2003 and appearing on the "Woodlot Surer" compilation, this was made up of four separate guitar edits (including the following two tracks, which stand up OK in their own right) layered over each other.

24. Multi3 - This individual track from "Multi" appeared on "The Undertow: Undercurrents of Australian Experimental Music" compilation CDR (sham026, 2004).

25. Multi4 - Previously unreleased.

26. Canon for 3 Guitars - This and the following track were both recorded in July 2003 as part of the main sessions for the "Offering" CDR (sham023, 2003). Like the first three tracks on that album, these tracks were made by looping different guitar parts so that they were overlaid in a canon-arrangement to create subtle shifts as they interplayed (previously unreleased).

27. Canon for 2x2 Guitars - This track differed in that two different guitar samples were used, each looped twice at different points so that they continue to interact at different points as the track progresses (previously unreleased).
