about

All 11 tracks available on purchase.

1. Hallowed Be Thy Name (speed jam) (1994) - Recorded live to the walkman, a sort of demo version of what turned into "Those Who Love" (previously unreleased).

2. Those that Resemble Flies from a Distance (1994) - Four tracks of guitar scrapings and glitches with heavy work on the faders on mix down. As with the remainder of the tracks on this Archive, it was recorded on Tascam 4-track. Tracks 2-8 on this Archive formed the cassette release "The Celestial Emporium of Benevolent Knowledge", originally released on Shame File Music (sham005, 1994) and later on Smell The Stench.

3. Those that have just Broken a Flower Vase (1994) - Four tracks of screaming guitar noise and feedback.

4 - Those Who Love (Hallowed Be Thy Name) (1994) - I originally thought this was a Sonic Youth cover, but it turns out Sonic Youth were covering this Alice Cooper original. Three guitar tracks and a rare vocal track.

5 - Others (1994) - Several tracks of knob twiddling on effects pedals fed from the amplifier directly back into itself.

6 - Those that Tremble as if they were Mad (1994) - Guitar and bass noise, the sliding effects created with slides and drumsticks on guitar strings.

7 - Those Drawn with a very Fine Camel's Hair Brush (1994) - Guitar and wind chimes, both slowed down to half tape speed.

8 - Those who Dream (1994) - Four tracks of bass rumblings and amplifier thumping, with tape speed slowed down to half. This track was influenced by Godflesh's "Pure II".

9 - Secrets (1995) - Recorded especially for the compilation CD "Spill 3". Spill's Greg Wadley wanted something along the lines of "Those who Dream" but much shorter. I came up with this, which was recorded similarly to "Those who Dream", but with the distorted vocal and effects at the end.

10 -The Loss of Reason and the Pursuit of Ignorance in the Quest for Corporate Bliss (1995) - This and "Product" both appeared on Shame File Music's "A Land of Sweeping Sound" compilation cassette (sham007, 1995). This is effects knob twiddling similar to "Others", with samples from movies "Rivers' Edge" and "Cape Fear" (the original), and also from an interview I did with some techno band.

11 - Product (1995) - A strange guitar tuning I was playing with and effects-tortured vocals and whistling into a microphone.
